We are very proud of our Ambassadors who spread the word about the value of teaching with primary sources through publications.
In this article, Alan McCarthy, the instructional technology coordinator, and Sandra Sterne, the library media specialist, describe their use of primary sources as writing prompts for a research project and formal assessment where students created a digital documentary about the Civil War. Fourth grade students at Long Branch Elementary School in Arlington, VA participated in the unit that involved research, writing, primary source analysis, and finally movie making.
