Understanding Goal 
Discoveries can be supported by primary sources that demonstrate multiple perspectives.
Directions
- Find a partner, preferably someone with whom you are not very familiar.
- Choose an item from your pocket, purse, or bag that tells something about you.
- Describe objectively the item to your partner.
- Let your partner ask a few questions about the item and answer those questions.
- Ask your partner to guess what this item tells about your life
- Let your partner know if the hypothesis is correct.
- Repeat the process, switching roles with your partner.
Following the activity
Once the activity has finished, discuss the following with the group
- What professionals work in this manner?
- How could you support your hypothesis about someone's life?
- How does this activity connect with the resources at the Library of Congress?
