Surviving the Great Depression
How Did Your Great Grandparents Do It?

Conclusion for Students

Now that you have completed five research activities and five scrapbook entries, take a moment to reflect on the following questions:

  • The role of the federal government in people’s daily lives changed things for the better during the boom to bust period. Do you agree or disagree?
  • Is government intervention necessary in times of crisis to meet the changing needs of society?
  • How did your great grandparents adapt to survive in this difficult time?
  • What kind of assistance did they receive or what adjustments did they make?

Be prepared to discuss your responses to these questions in class. You may see one or all of these questions as an essay questions on the unit exam (Hint! Hint!).
