The Roaring Twenties!
Meet the people who made the decade roar.

Conclusion for Teachers

In this LibraryQuest, students should have gained some knowledge about the people of the 1920s and a basic understanding of how their actions contributed to the depiction of the decade as the "Roaring Twenties." They should also have gotten more experience working with primary and secondary sources, doing research, and writing.

Some ideas to discuss when students have finished the project include: In this LibraryQuest, you were introduced to some of the people who made the 1920s roar. How did they do it? Think about it. If they had lived during an earlier or later time period, would they have been as famous or influential? Faced different obstacles? How much did they depend on new technology to accomplish their goals?

Is "roaring" the right thing to do? Almost every one of these historical figures pushed some limits in some ways. Was the country better off because of their actions?

You might link these people's ideas, goals and actions to students' own lives. Ask them if there is something in the community that needs to be "roared" about now. In what ways might they do some roaring?
