Locating the Exact Title of an Item

1. Locate the bibliographic record of the item you would like to save from American Memory.
2. Look underneath the image of the item for the title, which may be displayed in a variety of ways:
   • The word Item Title appears in bold letters

     

   • The word Title appears in bold letters

     

   • A phrase appears in bold letters

     

3. Copy the exact text that is underneath the thumbmail image and between the square brackets [] (Some titles may not be enclosed in square brackets). You can do this several ways:
   • Highlight the title and then right-click and select Copy
   • Highlight the title and then go to the Edit menu and select Copy,
   • Highlight the title and then press Ctrl+C (Command + C on a Mac) on your keyboard.
4. Paste the exact title where needed.
